About the Kitchen

Our new affordable shared kitchen is a 150-square-metre, full-service commercial kitchen filled with beautiful natural light, located in Strathfield South (Wangal land). There are four complete prep stations and a full range of commercial kitchen equipment available. We have a separate dishwasher and cleaning room, dry store, cool room and walk-in freezer, and an outdoor seating area for cooking workshops backing onto a lovely garden space that can be transformed for events and functions. Plenty of all-day parking is included. 

 

This kitchen is perfect for catering companies, product development and testing new menu items, food photography and filming, cooking classes, prep space for food trucks, and a place for start-up food businesses and home cooks.

Oh, and did we mention we are a social enterprise that provides subsidised rates and training for refugees and migrants?

Our kitchen boasts a complete range of commercial kitchen equipment;

  • 2 x 10 Tray Combi Ovens (roasting, poaching, steaming, grilling, baking, shallow fry, sous vide, dehydrating)

  • 6 Burner Range & 4 Burner Range

  • 1 x 300mm Chargrill

  • 1 x 20L Deep Fryer (oil not supplied. Must be drained and cleaned after use).

  • 2 x 5L Deep Fryer (oil not supplied. Must be drained and cleaned after use).

  • 80L Bratt Pan (braising, searing, shallow frying, stewing, boiling)

  • 5 Tray Blast Chiller (rapid chilling and freezing)

  • 10L Mixer

  • Semi-automatic Label Machine 

  • Vac Sealer

  • Commercial Dishwasher and Wet Room

  • Benchtop Burners & Benchtop Deep Fryer

  • Small appliances (stick blenders, blender, processors, food cutters, bag sealers, scales, coffee machine)

  • Pots, pans, trays, bowls, and other general equipment

Notes

1) Pricing includes GST

2) Subsidised fees are available for business owners from refugee, migrant, First Nations or low-income female backgrounds. Additional support is included - see our Frequently Asked Questions below or visit our Program Page.

3) All rates include bump in / out times. Event and Corporate Hire may incur a cleaning fee of $150 per use.  All users are expected to clean up the kitchen after themselves.

4) A 'workstation' includes 2 spacious stainless steel benches with undershelf storage that fits four chefs, unless otherwise mentioned. All rates include 2 cool room shelves, 1 large dry storage shelf and a shelf in the freezer. We also include longer-term or overnight storage rates as additional hire. 

5) A Half day is 4 hours; a full day is 8 hours, monthly is dependent on the needs of the user, so will be negotiated if the user is a good fit. Off-peak times are outside 9-5pm or on weekends. FoodLab may require the first few shifts to be during supervised business hours to build trust and familiarity between the business, before permitting off-peak use.
